I have said it before and will say it again, try to have a WHITE MISS America pageant, or a congressional WHITE Caucus,Or a WHITE history month and see what happens.

We used to have all white events, they just didn't have to call it that in the title. It was ASSUMED that it was a white event, because what else would it be? That's how awful it was. Because of that, white events are now for everyone, but there are still separate events for minorities... because they have no chance in white events? That's the only logical explanation. It's stupid. Like calling their mind a black mind. Why are you separating yourselves? I thought you wanted in! Racial issues just confuse me.

When the Advertising Council took over the advertising for the UNCF the nation was mired in crisis due to the economy, war in Vietnam, and with minority groups still battling to secure their rights. Consequently, if improperly handled, the advertising campaign for the UNCF could have presented blacks as charity cases, or it could have been viewed as patronizing to the black community. Instead, the creators of the advertisements focused on the potential inherent in the African American community, potential that had been denied due to discrimination and prejudice. But rather than feeling sorry for blacks, the advertisements encouraged Americans to help them help themselves and a campaign and a slogan were born. In the process the campaign has helped not only at the practical level of financial contributions, but it has also helped many Americans change their beliefs about black achievement and potential.

my problem with pinder's version is much simpler than yours. idiotic tho it may be, it's not nearly as outrageous, entertaining nor revealing as that pronounced by former vice-president and whitehouse moron emeritus, dan quayle, at a (where else???) united negro college fund fund raiser:

I agree with you entirely. One of the very first things to impress itself upon me, after my arrival in America, was the peculiriarity of the notion of 'Afro-American' or 'Amerindian-American' or any other phrase that attempted to denote a status that was at once inclusive of American citizenship and at the same time separatist in nature.

Until every American citizen identifies himself as an American first, and a member of an ethnicity second, we will be prey to the fundamental aggresion and stupidity of all those who cannot see that to be American is the greatest blessing that one can possess in this world.

I cannot deny that you are one of the most lucid, perceptive, and eloquent commentators on JU. I cannot deny that you are one of the very few here on JU that present me with arguments that I respect, couched in forms that are often as amusing as they are challenging.

Neither can I deny that, occasionally, you entirely and completely miss the point - as you have done in your present response.

I'm aware of the campaign to raise funds for the colleges dedicated to negroes: how could I not be, since their wretched banner ads are everywhere across the net? Which means that I'm equally well aware of the origin of the phrase 'A mind is a terrible thing to waste' - a slogan with which I am in agreement. It is a terrible thing, to deny to the mind of an individual, of whatever color, the opportunity for development and advancement. Having attended college myself, having benefited from that experience, how could I deny to others, of whatever color, the benefits I myself have received, without being a hypocrite of the first water?

I encourage every Black in America to attend college. It will free them from their poverty, and from the chains of their resentment (unless, of course, they are taught by American 'liberals').

But none of this has anything to do with the point I made and which, in your response, you entirely missed. What is at stake in the comment of the reverend fool against whom I animadverted is the integrity of the human species as human; as one entity to whom rights, and obligations, accrue.

One entity, capable of being subject to law, which is the highest achievement of human culture; one being, capable of experiencing, and expressing, the civil partnership which is the child of law and therefore the greatest achievement of human cooperation and collaberation. All these things are utterly destroyed in the phrase 'A Black mind'. This is an annihilation of the most significant attainments of human civilization, things which have cost us ten thousand years to acheive, things which are utterly lost if the statement of the reverend fool to whom I referred is to be believed, things which are completely glossed over in your response.

This statement, A Black mind, is an egregious assualt upon everything that constitutes our civilization. It is a matter for the most solemn and serious condemnation, not a reference to the ludicrous nonsense of an advertising campaign.

But, as I said in the original article, the folly of the fool is its own punishment. And while Americans, even intelligent and articulate Americans such as yourself, relegate such attacks upon the founding principles of their civilization to comments upon the worthiness of advertising campaigns, there can be no hope that American culture will take its rightful, pre-eminent, place in human experience.

There is nothing cynical in my belief that American culture, its hegemony, is the destiny of Mankind. If countless thousands of other races and cultures must be destroyed in order to achieve that aim, then so be it. Let them die. If they resist us, they are not fit to live.

Let them die, or acquiesce. Be damned to them.

As with Moderateman, I could not agree more with this statement:

They don't. Blacks in America want to be seperate and unequal - the inequalities involved operating in their favor. No Black will admit it, but what they truly want is revenge. I can understand this and appreciate it - if I were in their position and had their history, I would want revenge too.

But the fact of the matter is that they will never get what they want: economics, the socio-political system, jurisprudence: all these things stand in their way and always will. Their only hope is to do what they are presently doing - which is to make Black the new 'cool'. In that they are succeeding, slowly, mainly because the guilt-ridden White 'liberal' media is engaged in collaborating with them.

Despite the thrust of this article, despite my sincere advocacy of the overarching impetus of Western philosophy, I remain convinced that, at least in relation to the Black population of America, Aristotle's assertion that some races are natural slaves is true. The American Black has earned his servitude, and continues to demonstrate that it is justly deserved.

That doesn't, of course, prevent him from becoming the principal exponent of the chief values of contemporary America. As I said, the folly of the fool is its own punishment - and there is no greater fool in the America of today than the White man.
